Mildred M. Boatwright, 86, of Gas City In. passed away Wednesday evening at 9:30 p.m. at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, In.
Mildred was born on August 26th, 1920 to Robert and Ruby Tedder in Marion In. She married the late Mark M. Boatwright until his passing on September 3rd, 1980. Mildred is survived by her son, M. Tracy Boatwright (Ginny) of Indianapolis, Stephen Terry Boatwright (Donna) of Jonesboro, Mary A. Edwards of Fort Wayne, and Michael T. Boatwright of Marion. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Martin, Marion.
She loved and adored all of her grandchildren, Michelle, Heather, Ben, Blake, Ericka, Betsy, Leslie, Lisa, Kyle and Jason. An added pleasure in her life were her great grandchildren, Nick, Drew, Clay, Austin, Dylan, Dalton, Marisa, Mackenzie, Abigael, and Eleanor.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Reverend Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, Indiana.

Notes for MERLE WALTER BOATWRIGHT:
Merle W. Boatwright, 89, sharp and witty to the end, died on October 5, 2008, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston, after a long battle with COPD. He was born in the Ankeny home of his parents, Walter W. Boatwright and Frances (Temple) Boatwright on July 26, 1919. He grew up in Urbandale and was in the first ever Urbandale High graduating class of 1937. He served in the Coast Guard in WWII and was crossing the mid- Pacific on an LST when the war ended. He married Wahneta (Pat) F. Cross on January 30, 1941 and they resided chiefly in Des Moines until her death in 2006.
Merle was many things and good at virtually everything: coal truck driver, Ordnance Plant gunner, sailor, homebuilder, carpenter, pilot, floor finisher, storyteller, Firestone tire builder, custodian and school bus driver for Johnston Schools. He traveled widely, enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, boating, woodworking, gardening, bowled in several leagues, and was surely one of the best "tinkerers" ever.
Merle was known for his sense of humor which was too sly for some, too tactless for a few, but widely enjoyed by most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat and infant son, Bruce, as well as his sisters Marjorie and Darlene, and a brother, Duane. He is survived by two sons, Ken (Jo) and Rick (Shelly) Boatwright, along with four grandchildren, Bryan (Lori), Katie, Colin and Lisa Boatwright, one great-grandchild, Jared Ren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice Johnston or the Urbandale High School Memorial.
Join the family on Friday, October 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home for visitation. Services are Saturday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, including burial with full military honors at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Wahneta (Pat) Boatwright, 89, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2006. She was born in Des Moines on August 5, 1917 to Leo Cross and Ferle Harlan Cross. Pat was a proud North High Polar Bear from the class of 1936. She married Merle Boatwright on January 30, 1941 and they shared 65 happy years together. She worked at Kresge's downtown, the Ankeny Ordnance Plant, the Empire State Bldg. in NYC and retired from Sears and Roebuck in 1981. Pat was a great mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was a championship bowler, loved to travel and enjoyed word puzzles. She is survived by husband, Merle; sons, Ken (Jo) Boatwright and Rick (Shelly) Boatwright; grandchildren, Bryan, Kathleen, Colin and Lisa; great-grandson, Jared; sister, Mary Jane Jones of Florida and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce and by her sister, Bertie Argo. Visitation is Thursday, September 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Services are Friday, September 8, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Memorials may be made to North High Alumni Association or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Kenneth Boatright, Jr., 95, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015. He was born March 28, 1919 to
Kenneth and Fannie Boatwright in Des Moines, Iowa.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later owned his own plating shop for 10 years. He spent the next 25 years as a State Farm Agent. Kenneth has memberships with the Masons (50 yrs.), Za Ga Zig Shrine (50 yrs.), Blue Lodge (Auburn Masonic Lodge), Elks Club #98 (50 yrs.) and American Legion in Urbandale. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, doing projects around his home and his children's. Above all else his greatest passion in life was his family.
He is survived by his sons, Robin (Linda) Boatright and Dennis (Margaret Ann) Boatright; daughters, Roxanne (Kevin) Alderman, Dixie (Larry) Wilson and Dianna Chew; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Maxine; son, Richard Boatright; brother, Maynard Boatwright; sisters, Ethel Piper and Tiny Katzman; an infant grandchild; and granddaughter, Dana Wilson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 26th at the funeral home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Kenneth.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at the VA Palliative Care Unit Nurses and Dr. Debra Benjamin for their excellent care and compassion for Kenneth.

Maynard Leo Boatwright, 87, died June 14, 2013. Services will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3100 Easton Blvd. The family will greet friends Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens.
Maynard, born Christmas Eve 1925, was a gift to his parents, Fannie Alice (Speck) and Kenneth Leo Boatwright, and to his family and friends.
A life-long resident of Des Moines, Maynard graduated from East High in 1944, where he won many track competitions and later was inducted into the Des Moines East High Athletic Hall of Fame.
Maynard married Marcene Frances (McCollum) in 1947 and had three children: Dan Maynard, Michael Dean, and Cynthia May. After Maynard and Marcene's divorce, Maynard met Barbara Lee (Moorman) Frantz while working part-time at the Iowa Children and Family Services. They wed August 6, 1960, and Maynard became step-father to Barbara's children: Gary Dean and Steven Kirk.
The family joined First Presbyterian Church, where Maynard served many roles until his death. He also worked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners provided by the East Des Moines Cluster of Churches.
Maynard first worked at his brother's plating shop, then joined the Des Moines Fire Department in 1951. He advanced through the ranks and retired as District Fire Chief Training Officer in 1987. Maynard's co-workers became his best friends. Off the job, he helped establish and operate the Hall of Flame at the Iowa State Fair. He was active in the Des Moines Association of Professional Fire Fighters, along with other firefighter associations, and judged firefighter competitions.
After Maynard's retirement, he became a Doorkeeper for the Iowa House of Representatives. Maynard returned each session for the next 23 years. He was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms and retired in 2011.
Maynard led a Boy Scouts Webelo troop, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He ran bingo games for Baldwin Patterson American Legion Post 274 and served as Post Commander. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle in parades with the Elks Lodge 98, as well as golfing, bowling, pitching horseshoes, and socializing at the lodge.
Maynard's dedication to his family extended to all generations before and after him. Weekends were often spent water skiing. Vacations he spent traveling at home and abroad. Maynard avidly supported his kids and grandkids in all their activities. He and Barbara threw fun-filled pool parties and holiday snow-tubing parties.
Maynard is survived by a brother, Kenneth Boatright Jr.; his sons, Dan, Michael (Cindy), Gary, and Steven (Colleen) Boatwright; his daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Perkins; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Peterson, Kevin (Chris) Mann, Jennifer (Pete) Kellis, Eric (Laura) Boatwright, Jennifer (Scott) Cheskiewicz, Jodine (Aaron Loehrlein) Perkins, Tony (Amy) Perkins, Michael Boatwright, and Sara Boatwright; great-grandchildren, Alex and Ty Peterson, Peyton and Kamryn Kellis, Griffin and Katherine Mann, Casey and Kileigh Boatwright, Eleanor Loehrlein, and Kelenn Perkins.
Maynard's parents and siblings, Ethel Piper and Mary (Tiny) Katzmann, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to his church is suggested.

Georgia Branchcomb died April 7, 2008 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Powers Warren Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Georgia was born August 9, 1927 to Amos and Odessa Boatwright in Adelphi, Iowa. She married Joseph Andrew Branchcomb in 1945 and together they raised five children. She enjoyed traveling and was a very active member of Murray Baptist Church. Georgia is survived by four sons, Joe (Tina) Branchcomb, John (Virginia) Branchcomb, Dan (Marilyn) Branchcomb, Dave Branchcomb; daughter Arlene (Alan) Libby; three sisters and one brother, 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and seven great- great- grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joseph Sr.

Joe Boatwright, 89, Hillsboro, a former longtime Salem resident, died Aug. 3, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 5 in Salem.
Joe Boatwright was born May 15, 1920, in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of Joe Dunnigan and Joan Boatwright.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and after the war came to Oregon.
He married Florence Verburg, Nov. 27, 1946.
He was a heavy equipment operator, had worked for the City of Salem and later owned a service station. He was active in the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
After his wife died in 2006, he moved to Hillsboro to live near his daughters.
Survivors include a son, Jay Boatwright and his wife Vicky, of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Janice and JoAnn, both of Hillsboro; and four grandchildren.

Bessie H. Estey, 85, was born June 2, 1919 and died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Private family graveside services will be held Monday, June 28 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Bessie was a member of First Seventh Day Adventists Church. She is survived by her children, Jerri Velvick, Helen (Carl) Smith, Dale (Marla) Estey and Mary Estey; nine grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert G. Estey and daughter, June.

Margaret Arlene Wells Boatwright of Alsea died Monday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Marge was born to Harry Wells and Lottie Ellen Pemberton Wells on Aug. 9, 1928, in Payette, Idaho. The family moved to Colorado and lived on a cattle ranch during the Depression. They moved back to Idaho and then on to Oregon in 1936; they settled on Pioneer Loop near Dallas.
Before graduating from Dallas High School in 1946, Marge worked as a nurse’s assistant at Dallas Hospital, and worked at the Camp Adair military base malt shop during the summer. While working at the Salem cannery, she met Chuck Boatwright, and they married on Aug. 27, 1946, in Salem. They settled in Alsea, at the head of Salmonberry Creek, for several months, and then returned to Dallas shortly before the birth of their son Don in June 1947.
They returned to the Alsea area, living in Lobster Valley and then near the Alsea Cemetery when their son Dennis was born in July 1949. In 1950, they acquired property off Salmonberry Road along the Alsea River, where they made their home, raised two sons, and both lived out their lives. Marge was an excellent cook and extraordinary, loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and neighbor. She kept in touch with and loved visiting with friends and family.
Marge loved gardening, and could grow nearly anything she set her mind to: vegetables, houseplants, cacti, roses and an array of beautiful outdoor flowers. She enjoyed knitting craft items for children, and she especially loved to crochet, making countless doilies, end-stand covers and tablecloths of all sizes with intricate and beautiful designs.
She also enjoyed watching the birds and animals that came around her house, as long as they stayed out of her garden and flowers. During the summer, she would set out hummingbird feeders, and they must have come from miles around, as there would be 20 or more around at any one time, and they would empty two one-quart feeders a day. She set out wild birdseed on her back deck, and had several varieties of birds and squirrels to watch while they enjoyed the handout.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Boatwright, in 1990; father, Harry Wells, in 1959; mother, Lottie Wells, in 1978; brothers Marion Wells in 1993, Carl Wells in 1935, and twins Rosco and Boliver Wells in 1936; and sisters Sylvia Tucker in 2009, Leona Wells in 1927, and Ruby Wells in 1928.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Don and Nancy Boatwright of Corvallis; son Dennis Boatwright of Alsea; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Betty Wells of Marcola; sister and brother-in-law Rosie and Rick Spalding of Waldport; eight grandchildren: grandson and granddaughter-in-law Jeff and Sandra of Alsea, grandson Dennis Allen of Philomath, grandson Jimmy of Alsea, grandson Kevin of Corvallis, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Bryan and Katie of Navarre, Fla., granddaughter Elicia of Olathe, Kan., granddaughter and grandson-in-law Jennifer and Dennis of Corvallis, and granddaughter and grandson-in-law Katie and Ryan of Albany; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
An interment service for immediate family members and anyone who feels him or herself a family member will take place at noon Jan. 15 at the Alsea Cemetery, one mile west of Alsea, before Alsea Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow the interment at 1 p.m. at Hope Grange, one mile south of Alsea on Alsea-Deadwood Highway, with a potluck, time of sharing memories and celebrating the life of a wonderful person.
Memorial contributions can be made to Benton Hospice Service.

Robert B. Boatwright of Gilbert, Ariz., and formerly of Boulder, died of natural causes Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, in Gilbert. He was 85.
The son of Robert D. Boatwright and Elizabeth I. Hoffman Boatwright, he was born April 25, 1918, in Boulder. He married Ruth M. Mitton.
He served as a medic in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Boatwright graduated from the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy.
He retired in 1981 as a pharmaceutical representative for Abbott Laboratory Inc.
Survivors include his wife and two sons, Brandt W. Boatwright and Craig R. Boatwright.
A service will be held in Colorado at a later date.
Contributions may be made in his name to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care in Mesa, Ariz., is in charge of arrangements.
