Notes for JACOB BOATRIGHT, JR.:

Jacob and Judieth Boatright Gravestone

Jacob Boatright Jr. was born August 23, 1798 in South Carolina. Jacob moved to Montgomery County, Tennessee in 1806/07 with his parents. Jacob married Judieth C Lisle or Lyle, in 1820. Judieth was born November 22, 1805 in South Carolina. Their first son Joseph was born in 1821 but died as an infant. Their first daughter Elizabeth was born in 1824 in Henderson County, Tennessee. Jacob, Judith and Elizabeth migrated in 1826 from Henderson County, Tennessee to Illinois. Daughter Margaret was born in Illinois in 1827. They migrated to Boone County, Missouri by 1829, where they stayed for one year.

Son William Greene Boatright was born in Boone County on January 24, 1830. The family then moved to Ralls County (what is today, Monroe County) and were included in the 1830 census. They then relocated to Howard County, where Eliza (1832), Thomas Hart (1836), James (1838), and Henry (1840) were born, and were included in the 1840 census. The family then moved to Cooper County where John was born on September 27, 1842.

Jacob Boatright Farm - Saline County, Missouri

Finally, they moved to Saline County where they located on a bottom farm north of Arrow Rock and continued to live there until the Missouri river floods of 1844. They then moved to a farm located six miles north east of Marshall, Missouri, section 15, township 51, Range 21, on what in 1941 was know as the "Spicer Farm". They were included in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, living in Saline County.

Jacob is named as Estate Executor for Sherod Boatright in an 1851 court record of the sale of land from the estate. There is no previous record of Sherod, and it is assumed that Sherod was a brother or cousin of Jacob Boatright. Source: George Boatright
