Notes for DONALD W. BOATWRIGHT:

The funeral service for Donald W. Boatwright will be held Friday, February 18, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Starkville, with burial at Oddfellows Cemetery. Dr. Danny Rowland will conduct the service. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18th from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Boatwright, 81, was born Dec. 6, 1929. He died Feb. 14, 2011. A native of Lexington, he graduated from Lexington High School and Holmes Junior College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Mississippi State University. He joined the Mississippi State University staff as an assistant research professor in the Aerospace Department. At his retirement in 1993, he was named Assistant Professor Emeritus of Aerospace Engineering.

Mr. Boatwright was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church. He served as president of the Starkville Lions Club where he was a member for over 30 years. He was also an avid Mississippi State University fan, beloved father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Walton Boatwright and Myrtle Tyler Boatwright.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Green Boatwright; son, David Walton Boatwright and wife, Bonnie of Columbus, Ind.; and daughter, Donna Boatwright Rupp and husband, Jeffrey of Starkville; two grandsons, Thomas Walton Boatwright and Brennan David Boatwright; and two granddaughters, Taylor Jackson Rupp and Ellie Emerson Rupp.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Starkville or a charity of your choice.

Vera Evelyn Bailey Boatwright

ASHVILLE — Funeral service for Mrs. Vera Evelyn Bailey Boatwright, 87, will be Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Curry Harris officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Boatwright died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 in Ashville. She was a retired teacher who taught in several St. Clair County schools. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ashville. She was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Boatwright; and sons, Bobby Boatwright and Jacky Boatwright. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Mary Boatwright of Ashville; grandchildren, Donna (Dave) Crandell of Ashville, Diane Boatwright of Ashville, Dana (Mickey) Latta of Hoover, Doug (Linda) Boatwright of Oneonta, Brandon (Anita) Boatwright of Odenville, Lee Anne (Wayne) Goray of Lincoln; 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.
