Sarah A. Perkins Boatwright Broom - born 17 Dec 1846 in Louisiana and died 27 Mar 1926 in Holmes County, Mississippi. Her parents were Monroe and Eliza Perkins. She first married (1) George Walton Boatwright and had three children; one who died the day she was born and is buried next to George Walton Boatwright. Her son Frank Morton Boatwright married and had three children, which she ended up raising (Lonnie, Jim and Jesse) after her Martin died and her daughter-in-law remarried. Sarah was a midwife and came in contact with many Holmes County families. She married (2) Jesse Taylor Broom 05 Jan 1887 in Holmes County, Mississippi. Sarah and Jesse Broome had two daughters, one died at age six months (Alma Broome), and the other was my great grandmother, Elma Lee Broom. Source: Shannon Gorman
