The relatives and friends of Gladys R. Altman Boatwright are invited to attend her funeral services in Cherokee Place United Methodist Church,Wednesday morning, June 20, 2001, at 10 o'clock. Interment, Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, Tuesday between 5 and 7 o'clock where an Eastern Star Service will be held at that hour to conclude the visitation.
Surviving are her daughter, Gloria Jean A. Infinger of North Charleston, S.C.; her brother, Julius Francis Risher of Tifton, Ga., her sister, Adella R. Bernhardt of Monetta, S.C. Two grandsons, Robert and Michael Infinger, both of Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Boatwright was preceded in death by two brothers, Parker Risher in January 2001, of Perry, Ga., and W. Homer Risher in March 2001, of Cortland, Ohio.
Mrs. Boatwright was born in Walterboro, S.C., September 10, 1915, a daughter of the late Julius Francis Risher and Ada Langdale Risher Crosby. She was a Walterboro High School graduate. Mrs. Boatwright and her first husband, Norman B. Altman, co-owned Altman's Restaurant in North Charleston where she also served as manager. She was an active member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and as a church circle leader for many years. Mrs. Boatwright served as past president of both the Toastmistresses Club and the Roper Hospital North Volunteers Association. Dear to her heart was her ministry with the Order of the Eastern Star, having been a charter member and serving as Worthy Matron and as secretary for Azalea Chapter #192 for over 30 years. She was active and held positions within the South Carolina Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star and a Past Mother Advisor to the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.

Obituary - Georgetown Times July 23, 1964:
Mrs. Laura Burgess Boatwright, widow of Ezekiel Owen Boatwright, died at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital late Friday night after two years of declining health and a serious illness of one week.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at four o'clock in the Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating were the pastor, the Rev. Oliver M. Carmichael, and the Rev. Peden Gene Curry, pastor of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Mayer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boatwright, daughter of the late James Auld Burgess and the late Mrs. Martha Montgomery Burgess was born June 9, 1888, at the family plantation home (now Camp Harmony)in Clarendon County. "Miss Laura" as she was affectionately known was an elementary school teacher for 42 years. Her career began in 1909 at Wayside near Sampit, and she was retired in 1955 after more than thirty years at Oak Grove Elementary School. For several years she continued to substitute in the schools of the city and county of Georgetown. Mrs. Boatwright was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church of the Women of the Church, and of the Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include a son Ezekiel Owen Boatwright Jr, of Pamplico; two daughters Mrs. George Ashley (Colbert) with whom Mrs. Boatwright lived and Mrs. Brice W. (Dorothy) Baker of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother Thomas L. Burgess of Camp Harmony; two sisters Mrs. C. C. Richard of Winston Salem, and Mrs. Mattie S. Dennison of Spartanburg; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Jimmie Rowell Boatwright, 87, widow of Jack G. Boatwright Sr., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Conway Nursing Center after an illness.
She was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Dave and Addie Thomas Rowell.
She was elected treasurer of Marion County in 1966 and held the office until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the S.C. Association of Auditors, Treasurers and Tax Collectors. She served on the Marion County Registration Board from 1950 to 1966. In 1988, she was chosen Citizen of the Year by Woodmen of the World. She was a graduate of Marion High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion, where she was a member of United Methodist Women and the Lem Winesett Sunday school class and had served on the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee.
Survivors include a son, Jack G. Boatwright Jr. and his wife, Wilmarie, of Conway; four grandchildren, Dr. Russell A. Boatwright of Conway, Frank Y. Boatwright Jr. of Florence, Michael Boatwright of Marion and Tammy Boatwright Duryea of HIlton Head; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Frank Y. Boatwright, two sisters and three brothers.
