Arlie Boatright, age 86, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, passed away at his home Saturday May 23, 2009. He was born July 27, 1922 in McAlister, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Arlie and Lucille Nolen Boatright.

He was preceded in death by parents; one brother Billy Boatright; one grand-daughter Marsha Boatright Hogan and one great-grandson Jeffery Boatright.

He is survived by his wife Emma Dean Boatright of Murfreesboro; two sons Gene and wife Sharon Boatright of Tulsa, OK, Jimmy and wife Linda Boatright of Red Water, TX; two daughters Arlene and Tommy Fugitt of Nashville, AR, Sandy and husband Max Campbell of Nathan, AR; one brother Donalee and wife Lila Boatright of Krebs, OK; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew Billy Boatright of Amarillo, TX; and two nieces.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star. He served on the Murfreesboro City Council, as Mayor of Murfreesboro, as the Veteran's Service Officer, and was honored as the Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 1981. He and Dean also served as Mr. and Mrs. Diamond. He retired from the Corps of Engineers after thirty three years and then was self-employed as an electrician and business man. He touched the lives of young men for more than twenty years as a baseball coach. His love for the sport created generations of athletes.

Funeral Services are 2:00 PM, Monday, May 25, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro with burial in Murfreesboro Cemetery, with Rev. Brad Elrod officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Donalee Boatright, 78, of Krebs, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will greet friends today at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Chaney’s Memorial Chapel, McAlester, with the Rev. Charles Saviers officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Harrison Powers Post No. 79, McAlester. Arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Pallbearers include Robby Baker, Allen Boatright, Dennis Cook, Larry Cook, Ron Cunningham and Tommy Walker.

Honorary pallbearers include James Cummins, Joe Hanoute, Warren Hollis, Dr. Kenneth Miller, David Nelms, M.J. Turnipsead, Bobby Watkins and the Members of the Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 32.

Born May 13, 1931, in McAlester, to Arlie and Lucile (Nolen) Boatright, he grew up in Carbon and graduated from Hartshorne High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. He returned from war and began working in the coal mines of Carbon. He became a coal mine inspector for the U.S. Bureau of Mines and as a supervisor of the sub-district of Bureau of Mines and retired at the age of 65.

Following retirement, he was a councilman for eight years and mayor of Krebs for four years. During his service to Krebs, he implemented many programs such as the Coal Miner Memorial, senior citizens building and the city park. He was a member of the Board of the Coal Mining Institute of Eastern Oklahoma State College, American Legion Post No. 79 and the Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 32 of Krebs, where he was schooled in the Masonic degree work.

Survivors include his wife, Lilla Boatright, of the home; daughter, Lori King, of Krebs; two grandchildren, Thomas Ketcherside, of Baltimore, Md. and Sabrina King, of Krebs; mother-in-law, Golda Smith, of Crowder.

And, brothers and sisters-in-law, Emma Dean Boatright, of Murfreesboro, Ark., Larry and Jessie Grossman, of Denison, Texas, Ruby Masangale, of Broken Arrow, Johnny Mack and Janie Walla, of Canadian, Doyle and Sharon Sheffield, of Lane, Kenny and Suzy Graham, of Caddo Mills, Texas, Larry and Jenelle Walla, of McAlester, John and Mary Ann Smith, of Jumbo, Seth and Marilyn Smith, of Springfield, Ill., and Bruce Smith, of Crowder, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Lucile Boatright; brothers, Arlie Jr. and Billy Gene; father-in-law, T.J. Smith; brothers-in-law, Gerald Masangale, Richard Hill and Dickie Lee Smith, and sister-in-law, Willa Smith.
